Create brat bread bliss with sizzling sausages, melted cheese, caramelized onions, and a savory punch of Bookbinder's Stone Ground Dijon Mustard on French loaves - an explosion of flavors that'll thrill your taste buds!

Made with

Horseradish Mustard, Stone Ground Dijon Mustard

  • 2 loaves French bread
  • 10 sausages, casing removed.
  • 6 slices of your favorite cheese
  • 1 yellow onion
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1/3 cup Bookbinder's Stone Ground Dijon or Horseradish Mustard

  1. Preheat grill to 350F.
  2. Thinly slice onion.
  3. Combine onion, butter, salt, and pepper in a medium pot.
  4. Place pot over medium heat and gently brown the onions, stirring occasionally.
  5. Slice both loaves of bread in half the long way.
  6. Remove some of the inside of the bread to make room for the brats.
  7. Coat the bottom of the bread with a thin layer of Bookbinder's Stone Ground Dijon or Horseradish Mustard.
  8. Cover the bread with your favorite cheese.
  9. Top the cheese with the browned onions.
  10. Cover the onions with the sausages. Press the sausages so that they are an even layer over the onions.
  11. Grill sausage-side down for 15 minutes.  Flip bun-side down and grill for an additional 10 minutes. If making in the oven instead of on the grill, bake sausage-side down at 325 F degrees for 25 minutes.
  12. Flip bread over and grill for an additional 10 minutes or until golden brown
  13. Slice into 2-inch sections and serve with additional Bookbinder's mustard.
